2008 Policy Declaration, Section D, 14.

“ii) We believe the use of the federal spending power in areas of provincial jurisdiction should be limited,
and that provinces should be authorized to use the opting out formula with full compensation if they want
to opt out of a new or modified federal program in an area of shared or exclusively provincial jurisdiction.” p. 15

A long list of racist quotes, alleged to have been written by controversial conservative blogger Kathy Shaidle, have been removed on her Wikipedia entry. Last week Liberal strategist Warren Kinsella made similar accusations on his blog soon after hearing that Shaidle had been booked on TVO’s The Agenda. Here’s a link to Kinsella’s roundup of the controversy.

Australia pumps stimulus into Green home renovations

February 3rd, 2009

Compare this plan (see quote below) from Australian PM Kevin Rudd with this from the Canadian government.

“Once installed, households could save around $200 per year on their energy bills, as well as improve the comfort and value of their homes.

The Energy Efficient Homes package will modernise Australia’s homes, it will enable almost all Australian homes to be operating at a minimum two star energy rating by 2011.

For a time-limited period of two and a half years, from 1 July 2009, owner-occupiers without ceiling insulation will be eligible for free product and installation (capped at $1,600) simply by making a phone call.”

Brayden Akers
President
Ontario PC Youth Association

Toronto—As the Progressive Conservative Party’s Special General
Meeting quickly approaches, amendments of the Party’s constitution have been submitted, and there is some shocking amendments made which affect the future of the Ontario PC Youth
Association, and all associations of the party (OPCCA and OPCWA).

Amendment 13 blatantly calls for the dissolution of Youth Associations within the PC Party, which would eliminate all youth associations and cause irreversible damage for the future of youth in the PC
Party.

The amendment—submitted by party members from Lanark-Frontenac-Lennox & Addington , is signed among others by MPP Randy Hiller. The amendment this time explicitly discriminates against the OPCYA. But
party constitutional experts admitted to Bluenotes editors that it
sets a dangerous precedent, and would leave all associations of
the party including both the women’s and campus association open
to constitutional challenges of the same intend.

Sources also say that Hillier may also be concerned that his
unpopularity with the Youth association may affect his future
ambitions within party.Eliminating a youth voice within the party is eliminating a key player in the grassroots movement to help build
a better party by 2011. It risks the involvement of current youth within
the PC Party for future generations.”
